A robot that learned to make sandwiches just by watching people make them for four hours. The robot arms it runs on cost only $200.

Why it won: The training data was just four hours of humans steering the arms through the motions; the robot worked out the rest. Serious robotics labs spend months and six-figure budgets chasing this kind of result. The point the team proved is that teaching a robot a real physical skill is now a weekend project, not a research career.
