HackPrinceton · 2025

A patient voice helper for grandparents using a computer. Ask it how to unmute on Zoom and it draws a glowing highlight right on the button to click, like a tech-savvy grandkid who is always around.

We’ve all been there: helping a parent or grandparent unmute on Zoom, find the “Share Screen” button, or open an email attachment. Small tech tasks that take seconds for us can feel impossible for older adults, creating frustration and dependence. We wanted to change that. Lume was born from the idea of a patient, tech-savvy helper--like a grandkid who’s always available--that can listen, see, and guide seniors through technology with confidence. Lume is a voice-activated, on-screen tutor that shows seniors exactly where to click. It listens to natural questions (“How do I join a Zoom meeting?”), uses AI to understand what’s on their screen, and then visually highlights the correct buttons step by step--while speaking instructions aloud.
