They put a motion sensor inside a real dart, so you swing your arm like you're actually throwing and the dart flies across a dartboard on screen. It's like building your own Wii controller from scratch.

Why it won: The sensor reads the arc and snap of your wrist, and the software turns that into where the dart lands, so the physics has to feel honest or the illusion dies. This was a beginner team at one of the country's biggest hackathons. Nintendo built a company on this idea; they rebuilt it in a weekend with a toy dart.
