For people who can't move or speak, this app turns blinking into a voice. You blink short and long like Morse code, and it speaks full sentences out loud for you.

Why it won: It needs no special hardware at all, just the webcam already in every laptop, while assistive devices that do this job usually cost thousands of dollars. It was built for people with ALS and Parkinson's by a team at their first hackathon. The gap between how little it took to build and how much it gives someone who cannot speak is the whole story.
